Mama

Mama: An accomplished snuggler, a keen adventure trotter, an ice cream enthusiast, a toy hoarder to the max. She’s a whirling dervish of 100% delight--she is who she is.

Mama joined us as part of a long journey that began in Canada, where she was confiscated as part of a dog fighting bust. After a several years long battle for the dogs to be released to rescue, Mama made her way to the Dogs Playing For Life National Canine Center in Florida for a chance to have a brighter future. There, she learned what it really means to be a dog, gaining the life skills, confidence, and training she needed as she prepared to search for an adopter. Never one to shy away from an epic adventure, Mama took a cross country road trip to Los Angeles--and the rest is history!

Since her arrival, Mama has impressed us at every turn--not only with the excellent training and skills she brought with her from Dogs Playing For Life, but at her resilience and genuine zest for life. She is hilarious, loving, and takes delight in so many things. She’s never met a toy or an ice cream flavor she didn’t like. She loves vacation as much as anyone--even taking to kayaking like she’d been there, done that 100 times before (she hadn’t). Though sometimes we suspect she was sent from outer space to collect information on us, every day with Mama is heart-filling and wonderful. And now she’s ready to find her next set of people--the forever kind--who will love Mama for all things uniquely Mama.

About 6 years old and 40 pounds, Mama is crate-trained, house-trained, micro-chipped, up to date on routine vaccinations and knows many obedience commands.
