There are two things about me that have been consistent throughout my life….I’m NOT a dog person and I HATE running. But…these last five years of life have provided a whirlwind of changes. I hate to label life changes as good or bad …any change in life leads us to where we are supposed to be. Nonetheless, it’s difficult NOT to put a label on shifts in my personality that led me to two of the greatest loves my life.
When I first met Sherlock at Upland Animal Services he had a little energy to spare. Nothing out of the ordinary for a young shelter dog, but it was clear that being confined in a kennel was not doing him much good. Tongue out, eyes wide open, barking anxiously, Sherlock was stressed and he needed some time outside the kennel.
Angel City Pit Bulls is proud to be a coalition member in the Best Friends Animal Society initiative “NKLA,” (No Kill Los Angeles). In order to achieve this goal, Best Friends has opened a new state-of-the-art adoption facility where over 100 dogs and cats from Best Friends and a variety of other rescue groups will be showcased.
Ella has been found! She was brought to a vet clinic (uninjured) and they scanned her for a microchip. Someone in the waiting room recognized her from the flyer and called her adopter, Alexis, who is picking her up today!
Realizing the goal of a “No Kill Los Angeles” requires a multi-faceted approach that helps homeless pets get adopted out of shelters and also reduces the number of pets that are taken into shelters in the first place. An important aspect of reducing shelter intake is spay/neuter.
