Pippa

We met Pippa the Hippo while teaching the volunteer training class at the end of August at SLA shelter. She was a volunteer and staff favorite and it was pretty clear why: mellow, sweet, and oh so loving. She had apparently been a project- originally quite shut down and scared, but with love and support had really come out of her shell and blossomed in the last couple weeks! She was out of time, however, as so many of them are, so we committed... knowing she probably needed surgery of some kind (ahhh! the vet bills!) but we've been lucky enough to receive some generous donations so that a potential ACL surgery (again!) wouldn't stand in the way.  She has recovered oh so nicely from her ACL surgery and is loving life in her foster home!  She's short and squat, like a li'l baby hippo. About 2 years old, and oh so cute! She has an AMAZING temperament and would make a GREAT therapy dog. We would love to see her placed with someone who would be open to working with her to visit kids and/or the elderly and show people how awesome pits can be!
