Like her namesake, Calamity Jane is indeed a daredevil with a heart of gold--and she’s ready for a life of equal parts adventure and snuggles with her future family. Calamity Jane joined our program after suffering a gunshot wound--she refuses to tell the story behind it, but we’re sure it’s a good one. Now that she’s recovered, she’s turned her attention to other pursuits. Car rides, getting her steps in, belly rubs, bully sticks, and couch lounging are all up her alley!

Calamity Jane’s foster parents describe her as goofy, sweet, playful, and smart--she’s enjoyed learning all kinds of cues and tricks. She loves to flip onto her back for belly rubs, give kisses, and she does a happy tap dance before her walks!

Though she’s quite proficient in the art of couch lounging and relaxing, Calamity also lights up when it’s time for her daily exercise. If you’re looking for a hiking buddy or a friend for your daily neighborhood walks, Calamity wants to be your sidekick (heck, she’d even be down to try wild stuff like agility)! She is still honing her leash skills, particularly when there are other dogs around, but with some continued training, she’ll be a fantastic fitness friend.

At the moment, we think Calamity Jane will do best as the only pet in the home, though as we continue to learn more about her, this may change. About 5 years old and 65 pounds, Calamity Jane is crate-trained, house-trained, micro-chipped, up to date on routine vaccinations and knows her basic commands.
